Below is a tool to enable you to compare gas and electricity prices in your area for all energy suppliers. Simply select the type of energy that you would like to compare, select if you are a high, medium or low user*, the tariff that you would like to compare, and finally enter the first part of your postcode.
Note: our calculator uses only simple calculations to show the average prices based on the information you have entered. We do not display the kWh unit rates or the discount information used to calculate these prices.

* Type of user:
There are two different ways to determine the type of energy user you are: these are by how much you pay and how much you use.
Cost
Low user - if you generally pay £21 to £37 per month or £250 to £440 per year for one fuel
Medium user - if you generally pay £38 to £58 per month or £450 to £700 per year for one fuel
High user - if you generally pay £59 to £75 per month or £710 to £900 per year for one fuel
Consumption
Low user - if your annual consumption is 1,650 kWh electricity and 10,000 kWh gas
Medium user - if your annual consumption is 3,300 kWh electricity and 20,500 kWh gas
High user - if your annual consumption is 4,950 kWh electricity and 28,000 kWh gas
For Economy 7 rate electricity use 3,300 kWh (low), 6,600 kWh (medium) and 9,900 kWh (high). Economy 7 rate bills assume a fifty-five percent night time usage. Note: bill calculations shown both in our table and price comparison sheets are based on annual consumptions.

Make the change
Visit an an accredited price comparison site for a more comprehensive comparison.
Once you are happy that you have selected the supplier and deal best suited to meet your needs, changing is a fairly simple process:
- Get in touch with your new supplier and agree a contract with them (click here for contact details).
- Give your old supplier 28 days notice that you are changing to a new suppliers. Do this initially by telephone and follow this up with written confirmation.
- Pay any outstanding bills owing to your existing supplier or they may prevent you from transferring.
- Take a meter reading on the day you change supplier so that your old supplier can work out your final bill, and your new supplier can use it as the starting point for your first bill.
